CONNEMARA HAS LONG BEEN as one of the most magnificient and unspoilt landscapes of Europe, and in a lovely corner of it, between the mountains and the sea, nestled at the foot of Derradda Hill, is an eightenth century sporting lodge, now a small family run guest-house The Anglers Return. Peace, space, log-fires and a great variety of books create an atmosphere in which guests can truly relax, and feel both cared-for and sheltered in this charming house of timeless elegence and comfort. There is a magic here that only those who sit in the secluded back yard can know, with its centurian trees, stone walls, tumbling flowers and well fed fowl. The three acres of rambling natural gardens surrounding the house, especially beautiful in May and early June, welcome one to paint, or read or wander or just sip afternoon tea.
